Ok , the Vikings have Adrian Peterson. They also might have the best run blocking offensive line in the NFL. Favre will have had another week to gel with the team , and the offense. This will not be a fun game to watch for the average Lions fan - consider yourself warned if you are one.
There will be things to look for in this game , though. The Vikings play a 4-3 defense , so I think the Lions will be able to run the ball well. If the defensive line of the Vikings gets too aggresive , and gets caught too far in the backfield , Kevin Smith might have that good game I expected last week against the Saints.
Matthew Stafford will face real pressure in this game , and get sacked at least 3 times. I think that leads to at least 2 more interceptions. With the running game going , the Lions will drive down the field , and Stafford should get his first touchdown pass in this game. He also throws for 165 yards.
Scott Linehan - some advice. I know you like 2 tight end sets , but if the opposing linebackers don't have to look for the pass they will eat Kevin Smith alive. Get Brandon Pettigrew the ball , you need to be able to throw from this formation.
Favre will have a nice day at QB , knowing the offense better and playing against the Lions defensive line. Will Gunther Cunningham blitz with Peterson in the backfield? Peterson could make any blitz pay badly , very badly. Favre throws for 285 yards , and 2 touchdowns, That dosen't sound too bad , right?
Adrian Peterson will get over 200 yards rushing on the ground against the Lions. The reasons are absurdly obvious. If the Vikings score first , expect a heavy dose of Peterson the rest of the game. Maybe the Vikings pull him at the end of the 3rd quarter. Peterson will also score 2 TDs.
Kevin Smith should have a better game , if one of these tight ends can catch the ball once in a while. That forces the linebackers to respect the pass. I think Smith rushes for over 100 yards , and 1 TD.
I don't like getting into the final score that much , defenses can score , special teams can score , other receivers and running backs can score. Stafford needs to have a decent game for the Lions to have any chance , and against the Vikings defensive line , he is in for a long day.
Ok , so what else will I be looking for? Simple , the #76 , and how he fares against the Vikings DEs. Domonic Raiola needs to open some holes in the middle , but he never has , so why start now.
Aaron Brown and the return game should be fun to watch all year.
Louis Delmas - I think he gets some big hits in this game , but maybe more stupid penalties too. This is his first home game in a Lions uniform , and he plays with emotion. He will settle down eventually.
Will Buchanon play? Will Henry play as good as he did against the Saints?
Larry Foote - this guy hits hard , and might get a good one on Peterson before this game is over.
